Add the contact information for the librarian working with your class or the subject specialist in your discipline.

Adding a librarian to your Canvas page gives your students a great opportunity to see who can help them with their research.

You are also welcome to add a subject librarian to participate in the Canvas course. Librarians are able to monitor discussion threads about research skills and finding academic sources, create research guides specifically for your assignments, and add library resources for required reading.

If you are thinking about adding a librarian to your Canvas course, please contact your subject librarian, and let them know how they can best support you and your students, as a class or individually.

Using the Librarian Role allows instructors to add librarians into their course to provide research instruction and support.

The Librarian Role allows a librarian to:

• add or edit content;
• add or edit the schedule;
• provide feedback.

The librarian in the Librarian Role:

• cannot view or edit grades;
• cannot publish the course.

To add a librarian to your Canvas course, fill out the Get Help form. Your request will be routed to the Faculty Center. The Canvas administrator will add the librarian to your course in the Librarian Role.
