Examining Archival Objects

Working with your breakout group, inspect the 3 digitized objects your group has been assigned from the Sonoma State University Archives. Start by examining these archival objects, and ask yourself the following observational questions:

  • What type of object is this (e.g. document, diary, newspaper, ad, letter, photograph)?
  • Who created this object? (If not evident, take a guess at who the creator might have been)
  • What was the context in which this object was created (time, place, political/historical backdrop, etc.)
  • Whose voice or perspective is NOT represented in this item?
