We've been getting a number of reference questions about a particular chemistry assignment, so I wanted to share some resources that will be of use to students in that class, and to you if you're working with one of these students.
The Merck Index is an encyclopedia of drugs, chemicals, and other stuff ("botanicals") and is mentioned as a source in the assignment. I can't recall if it's required or just suggested. SSU has the most recent print copy in our tiny little reference section as well as a couple other useful reference books, down at the end of the LPs: https://csu-sonoma.primo. exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/ 01CALS_SOL/12mrlk1/ alma991000444109702921.
Meanwhile, the research guide for Chemistry has some other sources that might be useful, some in print and some online: https://libguides.sonoma.edu/ c.php?g=202656&p=1336768. Specifically, https://hbcp.chemnetbase.com replicates the content of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, which is no longer published, and PubChem is the National Library of Medicine's chemistry information portal: https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih. gov/.
I hope this is helpful if any further questions come to the desks. Please let me know if you run across a question that these resources won't meet.
All my best,
Rita
