Borrowing from Other Libraries Video

Did you know Seawolves can borrow books, media, and articles from other libraries for free? Watch the short video below to learn how to request items from other libraries using OneSearch.

How do I request items?

Check OneSearch to find books, articles, media, and more. If what you're looking for is not available at SSU, you will see options to get a copy from another library. You can request a physical copy of a book or media item, or a digital copy of a book chapter or an article.

How long does it take?

The length of time it takes to get an item from another library can range from 1-10 days. Most articles and book chapters will be received within 24 hours; books may take anywhere from two to ten days. Rare materials can take longer to receive. If you requested a digital copy, you'll receive an email with a link to download a PDF. Check your spam folder for emails from the library! Emails from our system are sometimes considered spam my our email system.

Can I check the status of my request?

You can check on the status of your requests in your library account.

Where do I pick up my items?

  • Articles and book chapters will be available electronically. You’ll receive an email when the article is available for download.
  • Books and media will be held for pickup at the Information/Check-Out Desk for 7 days. A pickup notification will be sent to your SSU email address. You can also request to pick up items from the Library Lockers, which are located in the breezeway near the first floor entrance, across from IT.
