Resources for research in French history from the medieval period to the Revolution

Finding Sources

OneSearch will allow you to search across the library's resources, including books, media, articles, newspapers, data sets, and more. This search includes materials from all subject areas, so it can sometimes be hard to narrow down to a particular subject. However, this is the only place to access books and DVDs from the library or from other CSU libraries.

You may want to search in history-specific databases to find articles and other scholarly resources for your topic. These will allow you to find more focused information.

Finding Movie Reviews

There are a few ways to find movie reviews.

You can find them in OneSearch by using the Resource Type facet to limit to reviews.

Linking to newspaper articles from OneSearch can sometimes be difficult. If you try to access a newspaper review and don't link directly to the article, you may want to try your search again in the newspaper database itself.

Alternatively, you may want to search directly in one of these databases.

Finding Images

ARTstor is an excellent source of images including images of important paintings, sculptures, photographs, buildings, and more. The images in this database have been licensed for educational use.

Whenever you include images in a paper, presentation, or online, you should ALWAYS credit the source of the image. Make sure you have permission to use the image and include any attribution requested its creator and/or copyright holder.
