How Science Works

Diagram of the scientific process

Science is an iterative process. It requires exploration, discovery, testing, analysis, and communication at all stages. Keep this diagram in mind as you participate in scientific endeavors- it can always be time to ask questions of the things you have observed!

To see the process in action, visit Berkeley's Understanding Science site.

Because science is iterative, sometimes scientific discoveries get retracted. Follow the Retraction Watch Blog to see the self-correcting nature of science.
