Search Tips

Different searches do different things:

  • ‚ÄčAny Field is most flexible and can find items about and by an author. It can be useful in searching through table of contents.
  • Title searches for words that occur in the title
  • Author/Contributor searches for works BY an author; usually search last name first; author can be writer, musician, actor, etc.
  • SUBJECT searches for books ABOUT an author or work using specific search terms (called subject headings)

Advanced Searches

  • limit by material type, like Book, Article, Journal, or Audio Visual materials.
  • limit by language
  • limit by date
